Why Do You Worship?

“That service was the best we’ve had all year,” Helen said. “The music was beautiful. The choir’s anthem lifted me to the gates of heaven!”
“Worship in this church always makes me feel like someone just died,” stated Beau. “Aren’t we supposed to be joyful as Christians? Why can’t we have some upbeat praise songs with guitar and drums? Doesn’t the church even know we youth exist?”
“I think the pastor’s sermon really connected this morning,” remarked Ted. “That always makes the worship service for me.”
What part or parts of a worship service most help you worship God? Why does a particular part mean so much to you?
Sometimes we can be tempted to become passive rather than active worshipers. We expect the music, prayers, sermon, or testimonies to usher us into God’s presence and provide a worship experience for us. We need to recognize our responsibility to enter God’s presence, hear His voice, and respond to His guidance.
