BIBLICAL TRUTH
God’s people are to view their momentary affliction in light of the unchangeable nature of the eternal God. Commentary by Bryan Beyer, Professor of Old Testament at Columbia International University & School of Missions in Columbia, SC.

A friend recently told me a story concerning his daughter. He has portable phones in his home, and his phone was ringing. His daughter was trying to answer the phone, but she couldn’t find one because all of them were off their bases.
Exasperated, she exclaimed, “I wish someone would invent a phone that attaches to the wall with a cord!” My friend can recall earlier days (as can I) when all phones came with a cord. Although most of us now view portable phones as progress, his daughter sure didn’t when she couldn’t locate one!
It seems everything’s changing all the time. Attitudes change. Styles change. Technology changes. Even the speed of change is changing! Sometimes it seems nothing but change endures. In these times, people need an anchor, something unchanging to which they can cling. The Bible affirms that God does not change. He is our solid foundation when life as we know it crumbles around us. He is our steady anchor when volatile winds of change rock our existence. In Him, Christians can and should have unshakable confidence.

What do you see as some of the positive and negative aspects of a fast-changing world?
