I was a student for the first ten years of our marriage. Yvonne and I married in 1975, and following that I finished college, seminary, and doctoral studies. Our three children were born during those years, and we often look back on those times as really special.
Yet, we also faced much struggle, especially regarding finances. We thought we were following God faithfully, yet barely had enough money. Meanwhile, many non-Christians we knew were moving ahead in their careers, buying nice homes and new cars, and apparently enjoying all life had to offer. We sometimes wondered why we had to work so hard just to meet expenses when others seemingly had everything so easy.

 Which of life’s problems challenge you to question God’s goodness? What role does doubt play in your spiritual journey?

The question of why the wicked prosper and the righteous suffer troubles many adults. Such questions cause some adults to doubt God’s character, and they wonder whether being a Christian has any value. The question is: How will we deal with our doubts? Will we let them drive us away from God, or will they actually bring us closer to Him?
