BIBLICAL TRUTH
God is faithful to His people even when they are unfaithful to Him.
Commentary by Bryan Beyer, Professor of Old Testament at Columbia International University & School of Missions in Columbia, SC.

A logger had a dog he dearly loved. Every day the animal would accompany his master into the woods. The dog would guard his master’s lunch box until the man returned to eat. One morning, the man left his dog in a clearing, and as usual said to him, “Stay here, boy, and watch my lunch box.” A short time later, a fire suddenly began spreading through the woods; and the man and his coworkers had to fight the fire to get it under control.
When he arrived back at the clearing, the man found his charred lunch bucket next to the body of his dog. Through his tears, the man told his friends, “I always had to be careful what I told him, because I knew he’d do it.” That dog showed real faithfulness!
 What or who comes to mind when you think of the quality of faithfulness?
People experience unfaithfulness in many life contexts. Friends are unfaithful to friends by telling or revealing secrets. Spouses are unfaithful to spouses by having affairs. Employees act unfaithfully by embezzling funds or bringing home supplies for personal use. And of course, Christians show unfaithfulness to God any time they sin against Him. The psalms we study this week emphasize and celebrate the fact that even though we are unfaithful to God, He always is faithful to us.
