Do Right When You Do Wrong

LESSON PASSAGES OUTLINE
1. Acknowledge Your Wrongdoing (Lev. 5:1,4-5)
2. Get Right with God (Lev. 5:14-16)
3. Make Restitution Where Possible (Lev. 6:1-7)

BIBLICAL TRUTH - The Lord expects His people to confess their wrongdoing against others and to make restitution for damages. - Commentary by Bob Dunston, Professor & Chairman of the Dept. of Religion & Philosphy at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY.

My wife and I let our youngest daughter use one of the family cars during her junior year of college. One afternoon as she was pulling into a parking spot, she misjudged the distance and bumped a car in the adjacent spot. Our old car showed no evidence of damage, but a door on the other car now had an ugly crease in it.

Not knowing who owned the car she had hit, our daughter wrote a note, explaining what had happened and giving her name, phone number, and dorm room. She placed the note under the car’s windshield wiper. Then she called my wife and me. I thanked our daughter for doing exactly the right thing.

How have people made things right for you when you have been hurt or your property has been damaged? How have you made things right for others when you caused hurt or damage?
