Psalm 19:1-14
Spiritual Preparation Through Personal Bible Study
The day began just like all the others for Teresa. Her friends at church celebrated New Year’s Day, but she didn’t see any reason to celebrate. For her, January 1 represented nothing but a continuation of the same drudgery she had known the year before. Her walk with Christ had grown stale. In fact, her relationship with Him hadn’t really mattered to her for quite a while.
Teresa wished she could share her friends’ perspectives on the year ahead. They seemed to be optimistic about the future. All of them appeared to live in hope that God would use them in 2009 for His glory.
In a conversation with Glenda, one of her friends, Teresa confessed that her perspective needed to be refreshed. After giving Teresa some reassurance, Glenda encouraged her to take the matter to the Lord. She explained that He can be trusted to reshape the way Teresa sees the world around her and her place in it. Perhaps other Christians need to take Glenda’s advice. If we take Psalm 19 seriously, the Lord can help us gain a right perspective about Him and about how we should relate to Him.
