Jesus told a parable about servants entrusted with their master’s resources while the master was away. While Jesus used the idea of money entrusted to servants by a master prior to leaving for a long journey, the emphasis is that God, from whom all resources and abilities originate, has richly bestowed each of us with an expectation that His gifts will be used wisely and in His service. This lesson’s “Use It or Lose It” principle applies to all our resources (time, abilities, possessions, etc.), not just financial ones.
Why This Lesson Is Important
Many of today’s adults are self-absorbed. They either don’t have the energy or won’t be bothered to get involved in helping others. They don’t have the time because of their self-interest activities. They don’t have money left over after they’ve attempted to satisfy their own appetites. They fail to recognize that all they have—time, talents, possessions, relationships, opportunities—has been given to them by God for use to further His kingdom.
