Spiritual Preparation Through Personal Bible Study

Reggie trusted Christ after reading a portion of the New Testament someone gave him. He was alone in his dorm room for the weekend, where the emptiness in his life became even more pronounced. Reading the Gospel of John opened his eyes and his heart to the truth about Jesus. He understood for the first time that Jesus died for him. The more he read, the more he became aware of his need to be saved. That’s when he prayed, “Lord Jesus, I am a sinner trusting You alone for forgiveness and new life.”

Reggie went home a few weeks later and told his parents about his salvation. They already knew something good had happened to Reggie, so they listened. Eventually both of his parents and one of his sisters believed in Christ too.

The gospel of Christ gave Reggie and others in his family a fresh start. Because they were saved and their lives transformed by Christ, they began to live in a way that reflected His purpose for them. This new life includes not only everlasting life but also a new way of life now—a transformed life characterized by purpose, freedom, and joy.
