SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS FOR MARCH

Our study theme for March is "Living 3:16 in a 9/11 World". Excerpts from the Leader Guide introduction on this intriguing title:

"9/11 was a day that changed our lives forever. Events of September 11, 2001, are seared into our collective national memory like a third-degree burn....we won't forget 9/11. But what does 3:16 mean? And what does 3:16 have to do with 9/11? We can consider it serendipity or divine providence but 3:16 is the location in several Bible books of some amazing truths of God. Most Christians know about John 3:16, and many probably are able to quote this verse from memory...Yet other 3:16s in the Bible communicate memorable truths. For example, check out 1 John 3:16, Ephesians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 2 Timothy 3:16, and Revelation 3:16. Each one contains a remarkable word from God. These passages give hope, encouragement, and direction for people who are struggling with fear and insecurity. And that's how 3:16 connects with 9/11. This month's lessons center around the key 3:16 passages mentioned above...even in a 9/11 world marked by terror and uncertainty, we can live 3:16 - marked by God-given confidence, hope, and direction".
